La torre è ciò che rimane del "castello novo", un’imponente struttura difensiva, costruita dai conti Ruffo nel XIV sec.
Sin dal XVII sec., il castello iniziò ad essere ridimensionato. Nel XIX sec., esso era già quasi un rudere da cui venivano prelevati materiali da costruzione.
La torre conserva ancora intatta la vecchia campana con cui gli abitanti venivano avvertiti di pericoli imminenti o di eventi straordinari.
Torre Campanara
The tower is what remains of the "castello novo" or new tower, an imposing defensive structure, built by the Counts Ruffo in the fourteenth century.
Since the seventeenth century, the castle began to be reduced. In the nineteenth century, it was already almost a ruin from which building materials were taken.
The tower still preserves intact the old bell with which the inhabitants were warned of imminent dangers or extraordinary events.
